Like to hear about your preferred guns and calibers. Personally, I'm using a Savage 112V in 22-250 for the long shots and a Savage 110 in 223 for short to intermediate range. I also make things interesting by breaking out a 22 hornet and a 218 bee at times. Like to hear your stories,

I mostly use 22 LR. Shot this one around 100 yards out.

Nice setup, you’ve basically covered the whole spectrum from precision reach-out to classic light varmint work. The .22-250 still feels like the gold standard when distance opens up. I’ve always liked .223 for volume shooting and cheap practice but those smaller calibers like .22 Hornet and .218 Bee definitely add some fun to it.

I like your set up. I have a Marlin model 25 that I got for Christmas when I was 10. For hunting it loves Remington Yellow Jackets. At 50 yards a dime will cover 5 shots. Never tried it at a hundred.

I never hunted ground hogs, but I have met some. Back in the early eighties, I happened upon one who had gotten his head stuck in a tin can, and I freed him. He sat right up in front of me and said, "Thanks, I thought I was a goner, and I'll always remember and appreciate this." And he slowly walked away and about 25 feet or so, stopped and looked back over his shoulder and said "Thanks, I really mean it."

And so I have been reluctant to hunt ground hogs, fearing I might sight in on one of his descendants.

He really was a good fellow about it.

Selice, what length bbl is on your encore? Is the recoil pleasant in that rig? A friend of mine used to have a pit bull who frequently used them as chew toys.

I'm sorry, I had visions of the contender with a 10 or so inch barrel. I guess the sun was in my eyes. That is my usual go to excuse.
