.40 S&W seems to be dying out

Everyone went back to 9mm. Is .40 dead or do people still use it? What happened to this caliber?

Yeah, 9mm’s taking over, .40’s not dead, but ammo prices and recoil scared most folks away.

The .40 caliber didn’t die, it just got humbled. Terminal performance gap closed, ammo stayed pricey and the extra kick never won long-term fans. 9mm just made more sense.

That caliber got squeezed from both ends, agencies moved on and so did the civilian market. But it still shoots great.

9 is cheaper, recoil is lighter, as was stated above. Though I predict it will outlast the .30 Super Carry.
