Plinking loads for .357 carbine

I have a Jap made Winchester 1892. Good little rifle and I want to shoot it more in more of a plinking mode. i am thinking of loading some +P or +P+ .38 Special loads in .357 cases in order to avoid feeding issues! I also have a bunch of 'wads" cut from light card stock that I can use over the powder to keep the powder back by the primer and hopefully improve ignition. Any thoughts? Has anyone tried similar? If yes with what results?

I use unique in my 45 colt and 44 mag.

You will still have better results overall if you can find a powder and charge weight that will fill the case completely.. Yes, I know it takes a bit of thought and research along with some maybe, experimentation, but in the end, you will be pleased with the results.

My Rossi 92 didn’t like the shorter .38 Specials at all. Switching to Trail Boss loads in .357 brass made feeding almost boringly reliable.

I’d avoid mixing +P concepts and .357 brass like that. Stick to published light .38 Special or cowboy .357 loads, it is much safer and more consistent and your 1892 will run them fine.
