My real-world take on the debate between polymer and metal frame pistols

I’ve carried both for extended periods. I shoot metal frames better but they wear me down over a long day. Polymer is lighter and I shoot it almost as well. If you carry all day, every day, weight matters more than you think especially over time.

I keep telling myself I’m better with steel but then I carry all day and start second-guessing. Polymer just makes carrying all day less of a grind.

My old steel-framed CZ shoots flatter than my Glock but lugging it all day reminds me why polymer took off, the lower back feels it!

After being on your feet all day, by the six-hour mark, a steel frame starts feeling like ankle weights. Your accuracy disappears faster than you’d expect once the fatigue kicks in.

AMEN to the "steel shoots better but wears you down quicker". Whether carrying it or an extended range session, ittires me quicker and more thoroughly - and the fun of shooting it disappears quicker.

And as for plastic - the smaller it is, the happier I am with it. I'll take my little KelTec P-11 over a larger polymer too.

I've found a happy medium. A Sig 2022. My Shield EZ9 weighs 23 oz. My FEG HiPower is I believe 32-34 oz. The Sig is 29 oz. Those 6 oz over the EZ gets my group tighter without too much extra weight. It feels solid in the hand as well. The EZ almost feels like a toy compared to it. Now to get used to shooting DA/SA again.
