Best 9mm Carry Ammo Recommendations

I've been carrying 9mm for a while now, but I'm always curious about what others prefer. What hollow point ammo do you trust for self-defense and why?

There are quite a number of well-performing rounds on the market today. The old FBI choice from Federal (147 gr JHP) is still a very good choice.

You can't go wrong with a 124 Speer gold dot or a 124 Federal HST. Never had much luck with 147's.

Quite right. Many (nearly all) decent carry 9mm's will perform about their best with that choice - 124 Gold Dots or HST. Some don't work at their most reliable with the heavier OR the lighter 147 & 115 hollow points, though they probably perform acceptably with the 115FMJ's, which are the most commonly available - and least expensive - practice rounds.

I should have stated in my earlier post that that was usually deemed the most "effective" round.
