The name just happened naturally

My deer rifle became "Old Reliable" after using it for fifteen years without issues. I didn't plan it, the name just stuck after enough hunts. Do names develop on their own or do you guys actually sit there trying to think of clever names for your guns?

Names usually earn themselves over time. After enough hunts and memories, something just sticks without ever planning it.

My flint rifle is "Lorraine", it's my wife's name. Neither has ever let me down. The rifle since 1994 when I built her and my wife for 55 years (since 1971). My flint smoothies always have my daughters' name: "ERIN". Scholastically and collegiately, she was a Champion Shot Putter. She attended U of Florida. That means she heaved a big ball, just like my smoothies. My Win 70A .06 is "J D Harvester". My initials and the harvester of what steps into the scopes range. Top harvest distance was 427 yards, marked and verified taped distance. Minus 1 yard on range finder.
