What optics works best for night hunting?

I'm looking at options for night hunting optics, thermal, night vision, or low-light scopes. Which setups give the best clarity and reliability in real hunts, and what should I avoid?

I once hunted hogs at first light using a thermal clip-on I borrowed. The clarity was impressive, I spotted eyes glowing through thick brush. I also tried an off-brand NV scope later and it completely failed under foggy dew conditions

I'm thinking mid-range, maybe $2-4k total, I want something reliable that won't break the bank but still performs well for hogs and coyotes mostly

High end thermal scopes are going to be the best but they ain’t cheap probably double what you want to spend.

Whatever you buy get a factory recon they have same warranty and you get a 4k scope for 3k.
