Not every place is great! What's the worst range or shooting spot you've been to? Let's hear the horror stories so people know what to avoid...

Packed ranges and people being reckless can ruin a good time fast. I bailed on one place early 'cause no one was following the rules. No amount of shooting is worth that headache.

I can't recall the club's name but I shot trap there - once - during a Schuylkill County Winter League event. The trap machine was so misadjusted that left angles appeared to come out of the side of the trap house and we never saw a right angle. I asked the that field be reset and was told no one there knew how to do anything but load the machine. I never went back to that club.

Misaligned traps and clueless staff would ruin anyone’s shooting day.

I know that this an old thread, but I can't resist relating a story that happened to me. I was shooting at a club that I had been a member of for 50 years. I was shooting a bolt action inline muzzleloader, a CVA Electra to be exact. The sabots were getting hard to push down the barrel, so I decided to give it a brushing and a solvent patch. I removed the bolt and the breech plug and was in the process of this cleaning. Who should show up but the club's know it all, big mouth and now self-appointed range officer. Mind you the bolt and breech plug were removed from the gun, and a cleaning rod was in the bore with the barrel pointed at the ground in front of me in the down range direction. He proceeded to ask me to point my firearm in a safe direction as serious as a heart attack. I would hate to have a nerve like that in a tooth. As I was more than happy with the groups it was throwing, I reassembled my gun and left the range.
