Gun belt or regular belt for carry

I think its a night and day difference. A regular belt flexes and sags under gun weight, your gun shifts all day and it's miserable. A proper gun belt distributes weight, stays rigid, keeps everything in place. It's one of those upgrades you don't appreciate until you try it and wonder how you lived without it.

I used a regular belt for ages and kept blaming the holster..once I got a real gun belt, everything stayed put and my back didn't hurt at the end of the day.

I didn't want to buy one for years. When I got one, carrying all day stopped being a pain, being comfortable is more important than people think.

As much - or maybe even MORE - depends on your choice of firearm and holster as does depend on the belt. Stuff a 500 caliber howitzer into an Uncle Mike's "one-size-fits-all" holster and put it on a very high quality gun belt and you'll still regret that choice.

However, you can stuff a KelTec P-11 on it's own beltclip into your jeans on an ordinary WalMart grade belt and carry all day without ever noticing - - and you're welcome to ask me just how I know that little fact.

There may be many variations in between. (To be sure, I don't even own anything heavier than a 1911-A1, and the only way I carry one of them is in a military holster on a GI belt.)
