Hey everyone, I'm curious about what you keep around for home defense at night. Do you have a specific firearm you trust and maybe a safe or light to go with it? Let’s share our setups!

Both, myself and wife: 5 shot "Public Defender" (same as the "Judge".) shot #1 a Remington .410 Personal Defense shot load (4- .32 balls in shell), #2 & #4 are .45 LC PDHP rounds, #3 &#5 are .410 Remington Shotgun Slug rounds. A ritualistic Personal Defense smorgasbord. We both have practice empty - reload- resight. Very satisfying at 7 yards (21 feet). We have a 12X12 Bedroom, 12X15 living room. After those we're waiting for the sirens to come up from the distance.

My EDC, a KelTec P-11, 9mm. So used to shooting it that muscle memory of both hands negates need for sights at bad-breath distances.

Back up for that is a S&W Sigma with the same operating character and familiarity.

And Mrs. Flash has installed so many night lights that recognition and target acquisition is a non-issue.

I keep a Colt AR-15 9mm Carbine ready to go at all times. It is easy to handle, not very heavy, accurate out to 100 yards, little recoil, muzzle blast that isn't excessive, and has a 32 round magazine inserted. Even if I miss the first couple of shots, I still have enough to finish the job.

It's not often I see a 2-point sling in use anymore. Would you use it in a middle-of-the-night scenario ?

Glock 33 and my M4 Carbine. I live in a rural area, hence the carbine also. Good flashlight rounds out the package along with my cell phone. There is pretty much a firearm in every room of my home.

Mine is a Smith & Wesson E-Series 1911 in 45ACP. I keep it in a Hornady 4800 RapidSafe on my dresser.

It's mechanically stock except for an ambidextrous thumb safety, an oversize extended magazine release, an extended slide stop and a magazine well. I also have a "holster" for it in case I want to carry it.

I keep it loaded with low-penetration Doubletap rounds in the Mann load - a 160-grain lead-free SC-HP bullet.

I don't live in a high-crime area but these days, one never knows. Our first line of defense is a small dog, a mini golden doodle, that barks when he hears or sees something strange. No would-be criminal wants noises to attract attention to him/her.
