sounds like a sorely needed forum for this region

Mad Irish Jack here. Newby; HERE. Born and raised in Western PA. I'm a flintlock enthusiast since 1978, builder (of my own stuff) and informative assistance contributor. I have common knowledge as well as trial and error success and 'no good goes' info. I have hunted with all different weapons (Bows, flintlocks (rifles, smoothies and pistols), percussion handguns(only), high power, small bore shotguns & rifles, scoped and open sites. I started hunting In Nebraska while in College back in 1967. I really enjoy bird hunting with a dog while dress in period garb. The safety orange is required here so I overlook the non period look of it.

Nice German shorthair Jack. I had one just like it many years ago then settled on labs the past 40 years.
My good friend is a breeder/trainer of that and many other Champions. He occasionally invites me to hunt with him when he wants to train in live retrieve scenarios. And I oblige by dropping some birds with my smooth rifle flintlock. And that is the raiser for his clients and friends. Most hunters never see harvest of any game with a flintlock. I hunt PA's small and large game animals as well as some predatory game. I have a Golden Lab-Retriever the grandkids named Chloe. She's a Breeder mix created by accident when they had a female and a male got loose and got creative, so to speak. So the kids got the pup and she's never been afield, sorry to say. Not my decision.
